Sunday, March 10, 2013 – Iron Cove and Beyond

This morning, the students began the day by participating in a charity fun-run in Iron Cove – a wonderful suburb of Sydney. It was a great opportunity for everyone to interact with the residents of Sydney and one of the students, Drew Vicary, even won his age group.

In the afternoon, we visited two museums – the Museum of Sydney and the Justice & Police Museum. They both offered excellent introductions to the history of law and criminal justice in Australia. In particular, the Justice & Police museum offered the students a first-hand look at the courts, enforcement, and punishment in Australia from the early colony until today.

At the end of a spectacular first full day, we enjoyed a welcome dinner in The Rocks, which included crocodile, emu, and kangaroo gourmet pizzas. Dinner was followed by a reception at the Sydney Opera House.
